(Web Desk): Justice Aminuddin Khan sworn in as first Chief Justice of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court, which will have 13 judges.

 

Justice Aminuddin Khan has taken oath as the first Chief Justice of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court. President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace on Thursday.

The event was attended by top government officials, including former Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Attorney General, and other dignitaries.

President Zardari also issued the official presidential order appointing the judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. According to sources, the new court will consist of 13 judges, including the Chief Justice. The court will be located on the top floor of Islamabad High Court.

Justice Ali Baqar Najfi and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi have been appointed as judges of the Federal Constitutional Court. Justice Rozi Khan and Justice K.K. Agha Khan will also join as judges, alongside Justice Amir Farooq.

The formation of the Federal Constitutional Court marks a historic step in Pakistan’s judicial reforms under the 27th Constitutional Amendment. The new court is expected to strengthen the country’s legal framework and ensure fair interpretation of the Constitution.
