ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard the police's request. The Mianwali police had sought judicial remand of the two female leaders of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI). The court approved their one-day remand and handed over them to the police.
It should be noted that earlier on March 27, 2024, a special anti-terrorism court had approved Sanam Javed and Alia Hamza in the Shadman police station arson case.
The Jinnah House attack case was also heard in the special anti-terrorism court. The court approved the bail applications of 29 accused.
Among the accused are Ayesha Bhatta, Waqas Ali, Saif Khan and PTI MPA Ahmar Rashid Bhatti.
In the case involving torching of Shadman Police Station, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) had earlier granted bail to Aliya Hamza and Sanam Javed. The court had instructed the accused to furnish surety bonds of Rs200,000 each to secure their release on bail. Hearing their post-arrest bail petitions, Judge Arshad Javed announced the verdict after concluding final arguments from both the sides.
The petitioners’ counsel argued before the court that his clients were accused of torching the police station during the May 9 riots but they had no involvement in the incident. He pleaded with the court to grant bail to his clients. However, the prosecution opposed the bail pleas, contending that both the accused were part of an anti-state conspiracy and had engaged in vandalism.
