Judicial Commission of Pakistan constitutes Justice Aminuddin Khan-led Constitutional Bench
Islamabad (Suno News): After a long deliberation, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has formed seven-member constitutional bench. The commission nominated Justice Aminuddin Khan as head of the constitutional bench.

After passing 26th Constitutional Amendment, the meeting of Judicial Commission of Pakistan was held today. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi presided over the meeting. The meeting was attended by senior puisne judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Omar Ayub and others.

The commission approved the nomination of judges by majority of 7-5 members.

The constitutional bench will be comprised of Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, AGP Mansoor Usman Awan, Advocate Akhtar Hussain from Pakistan Bar Council, Senator Farooq Hameed Naik, Sheikh Aftab and Roshan Khurshid endorsed the nominations. Whereas, CJP Afridi, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Omar Ayub and Senator Shibli Faraz opposed the move.

It merits mention that during the JCP meeting, participants discussed formation of secretariat of the constitutional bench and its operational procedure. It is hoped that the formation of this bench will help doling out justice swiftly.
