JCP appoints Justice Aalia Neelum as LHC chief justice

LAHORE: (Suno News) The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has approved the appointment of Justice Aalia Neelum as the chief justice (CJ) of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The agenda of a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) called by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa on Tuesday included the consideration of a permanent Chief Justice for the Lahore High Court.

Sources indicate that Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Ali Baqer Najafi, and Justice Alia Neelam were being considered for the position of Lahore High Court’s Chief Justice. Additionally, the meeting also considered the appointment of a permanent Chief Justice for the Sindh High Court.

CJP Qazi Faez Isa chaired the JCP meeting held in Islamabad.

As per LHC website, Justice Aalia Neelum was born on 12-11-1966 and got LLB degree from University of the Punjab, Pakistan in 1995 and enrolled as an Advocate on 01-02-1996. Justice Aalia Neelum was elevated to the Bench of LHC on 12-04-2013 and has rendered numerous reported judgments on numerous important issues.

Her area of practice and consultancy covered Constitutional Law, White-Collar Crime, Civil, Criminal, Anti Terrorism laws, NAB, Banking Offences, Special Central Courts Law, and Banking Laws.

While practicing at the Bar, she also successfully conducted numerous cases involving various laws, including civil law, criminal law, banking law, Anti Terrorism laws.

She dealt with almost 91 cases in the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Pakistan from 2009 to February 2013.

She dealt with almost 850 cases in Lahore High Court, Lahore.

She dealt with nearly 1,473 cases in trial courts from 1996 to February 2013.

There are various reported judgments in her credit as counsel.
