ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has appeared in the Supreme Court via a video link from Adiala Jail in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments case.

A five-member larger bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, is hearing the government’s intra-court appeals in the NAB amendments case.

Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Athar Minallah, and Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi are part of the bench.

Imran Khan has appeared before the apex court twice via a video link in the same case.

It is to be noted here that the judgment in the NAB amendments case was issued on September 15, 2023, by ex-CJP Umar Ata Bandial before he resigned from his post.

In the majority judgment, the Supreme Court annulled the NAB amendments regarding the definition of Benami, assets beyond means, and burden of proof on the prosecution.

The apex court restored the cases of all the public office holders and ordered sending them to accountability courts.

It also ordered the NAB to send all the records to the courts concerned within seven days.

A three-member SC bench delivered the verdict. Ex-CJP Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan gave the majority judgment while the third judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, disagreed with the majority verdict.
