Rs12.2 million paid to 868 petrol pumps under relief scheme

The association said Rs12.2 million had been paid to 868 petrol stations against their claims for September 16. It confirmed that the full amount claimed by these fuel pumps had been cleared.

Petrol pumps receive payments under relief scheme

The payments are part of the government’s special petrol relief programme, under which eligible citizens can receive a discount of Rs100 per litre.

The scheme is aimed at reducing the financial pressure on people affected by rising fuel prices. Registered beneficiaries can use the subsidy at participating petrol stations through a digital system introduced by the government.

The digital system has now been activated, allowing eligible citizens to receive the relief at fuel stations across Pakistan.

Authorities are also conducting real-time monitoring to track the distribution of subsidised petrol and ensure that the benefit reaches registered users.

Around one million people registered

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima said around one million people had registered for the petrol relief scheme so far.

The registration process is being carried out through a digital mechanism. The government is also using an awareness campaign to inform the public about the registration procedure and eligibility requirements.

The scheme covers users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws, other two- and three-wheelers, and small cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc.

Who can receive the Rs100 per litre relief?

Under the scheme announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, eligible users will receive a discount of Rs100 per litre within a fixed monthly limit.

Motorcycle users, rickshaw drivers, Qingqi rickshaw operators and other eligible two- and three-wheeler users can receive the relief on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.

Owners of small cars with engine capacities of up to 800cc can receive the subsidy on up to 30 litres of petrol per month.

This means eligible beneficiaries may receive the following maximum monthly relief:

• Motorcycles and eligible two- and three-wheelers: Up to Rs2,000 per month
• Cars up to 800cc: Up to Rs3,000 per month

The subsidy is limited to the specified monthly petrol quantity and is not an unlimited discount on fuel purchases.

Scheme launched amid rising global oil prices

The relief programme was announced as global oil prices increased amid tensions in the Middle East. The government introduced the scheme to reduce the impact of higher fuel costs on ordinary citizens, particularly those who depend on motorcycles, rickshaws and small vehicles for daily travel and work.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government understood the difficulties being faced by the public because of rising oil prices.

He assured citizens that the government would not leave them alone during the difficult period.
