Punjab launches 4th phase for CM green tractors scheme for farmers
19,500 tractors planned
The Punjab government plans to provide 19,500 tractors to farmers during the current fiscal year under the scheme.
Farmers will receive subsidies ranging from Rs750,000 to Rs1 million, depending on the tractor category and phase.
During the Phase IV balloting ceremony, the first tractor was allotted to Masood Khan, son of Lal Khan, from Attock.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also inspected the tractor models being offered under the programme and congratulated the successful applicants.
10,000 tractors in Phase IV
Under Phase IV, the government will distribute 10,000 tractors with engine capacities between 50 and 65 horsepower.
Each successful farmer will receive a subsidy of Rs750,000 for the purchase of a tractor.
The balloting process was carried out digitally after applications were checked and verified.
The scheme is aimed at helping farmers access agricultural machinery and improve farming activities across Punjab.
Phase V brings bigger tractors
Applications have now opened for Phase V of the Green Tractor Scheme.
The new phase will offer another 9,500 high-powered tractors with engine capacities ranging from 75 to 125 horsepower.
Farmers selected through the process will receive a subsidy of Rs1 million per tractor.
The larger tractors are intended for farmers who require more powerful machinery for agricultural work.

Billions allocated for farmers
The Punjab government has allocated Rs17.6 billion for the Green Tractor Scheme.
According to an official briefing, 24,000 tractors have already been supplied to farmers under the programme with a subsidy of Rs1 million per tractor.
The figures show the scale of the government’s agricultural mechanisation programme and its focus on increasing access to farm machinery.
Huge number of applications
The scheme has attracted a large number of farmers from across the province.
More than 213,637 farmers applied for the Green Tractor Programme.
After verification through the Punjab Land Records Authority and NADRA, 128,757 applicants were declared eligible for the balloting process.
The verification was carried out to ensure that eligible farmers could participate in the digital selection process.
Government highlights mechanisation spending
Officials also compared recent spending on agricultural mechanisation with previous decades.
According to the briefing, only 10,000 tractors were provided to farmers over the previous 20 years.
In comparison, 35,000 tractors were distributed during Maryam Nawaz’s two-and-a-half-year tenure.
Government spending on agricultural mechanisation also increased from Rs3 billion over two decades to Rs20 billion during the same two-and-a-half-year period.

Local tractor production expands
The briefing also highlighted developments in local tractor manufacturing.
Punjab has seen the local manufacturing of 90-horsepower tractors and the local assembly of 100-horsepower tractors.
The government says these developments can support greater access to agricultural machinery while strengthening local production.
