(Web Desk): Pakistan launches its first secure government-made mobile phone to protect official data, enhance communication, and strengthen national digital security systems.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has introduced Pakistan’s first government-manufactured mobile phone, designed specifically to protect sensitive state data and official records.

In the initial phase, the secure mobile device will be distributed to officers of federal ministries and officials of cadre services. The purpose is to enable safe communication and ensure that government affairs are conducted through modern, protected channels. With this phone, officers will be able to communicate directly with one another and efficiently manage official tasks.

The mobile phone has been developed by the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC). It will operate through government internet services and the official e-office system. According to NTC, the phone includes advanced data-security features to prevent unauthorized access. All official service and internet data will remain stored within the device and cannot be transferred to any external source, ensuring complete protection of sensitive information.

NTC further stated that all hardware components and features of the phone have been produced locally, marking a major step toward technological self-reliance. Under the broader project, the service will gradually be extended to other federal departments and provincial governments.

The expected price of the device has been set between Rs 60,000 and Rs 70,000, making it a cost-effective solution compared to imported secure devices. Authorities confirmed that the pilot phase of the project will begin soon, after which full-scale deployment will follow.

This initiative reflects the government’s growing focus on cybersecurity, digital governance, and strengthening secure communication channels across the public sector.
