The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has introduced a new facility allowing motorcyclists to obtain both learner and permanent driving licences in a single day, effectively ending the previous 42-day waiting period.
Under the revised procedure, applicants can now take their written and practical tests on the same day, with successful candidates receiving their permanent licences immediately. The initiative aims to reduce delays and make the licensing process more convenient for daily commuters.
The reform was introduced on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam, in line with the vision of Punjab Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Waqas Nazeer. A CTP spokesperson said the change is part of a broader effort to enhance licensing services across 13 centres in the district.

Since the launch of the system, more than 20,500 motorcycle licences have been issued in a single month. Officials reminded the public that driving without a valid licence remains a legal offence and urged riders to obtain theirs to avoid penalties.
CTO Farhan Aslam added that an awareness campaign is underway to educate riders about the importance of carrying valid licences and observing traffic laws. The entire process, from application to testing and issuance, is now managed through the Punjab Government’s online licensing system at CTP centres.
