Punjab offers over 8,000 teaching internships with Rs 65,000 stipend

LAHORE (Web Desk): The Punjab government has approved a monthly stipend package worth Rs4,217,000,000 for College Teaching Interns (CTIs), marking a major step to support young educators across the province.

According to official details, this new initiative will benefit more than 8,000 interns currently serving in various public colleges of Punjab.

Under the approved plan, interns teaching at the intermediate level will receive a monthly stipend of Rs55,000, while those working at the BS level will earn Rs65,000 per month.

The internship duration will be seven months for intermediate-level interns and ten months for BS-level interns. After completing the program, all participants will be awarded experience certificates recognizing their contribution.

The government has also introduced special quotas to promote inclusion and equal opportunities. A total of 404 seats have been reserved for minorities, 243 for differently-abled individuals, and 40 for members of the transgender community.

The allocated Rs4,217,000,000 fund will cover both stipends and administrative expenses related to the internship program. Officials stated that this move aims to empower young teachers, encourage diversity, and raise the overall quality of education in Punjab’s colleges.

The Punjab government’s internship package is being seen as a progressive step to strengthen the education sector. It not only provides financial relief to educated youth but also ensures inclusivity through special quotas. The initiative is expected to motivate aspiring teachers and enhance learning standards across the province.
