The Punjab government has officially announced the Intern Teachers Scheme 2025, aimed at providing unemployed graduates with an opportunity to gain teaching experience while earning a decent monthly stipend. The program, launched in October 2025, is part of efforts to address the shortage of teachers in public schools across the province.
To be eligible, candidates must hold a Punjab domicile and be permanent residents of the province. The age limit is expected to remain between 21 and 45 years, though applicants are advised to wait for the official notification for final confirmation. Each internship is expected to last seven to nine months, compared to the earlier four-month contracts, giving interns longer exposure to classroom teaching.

Primary Level: BA/BSc or equivalent
Elementary Level: BSc/MSc
Secondary & Higher Secondary Level: MSc/BSc
Possessing a B.Ed or M.Ed can provide extra merit points. Candidates usually need to apply for schools in their own locality, which forms part of the merit formula.

Important Notes:
The Intern Teachers Scheme is temporary, and no guarantee of permanent government employment is provided. However, interns gain valuable experience and a certificate, which can significantly boost their resumes. The Punjab Education Department and its social media pages will provide updates regarding the scheme and the upcoming November 2025 intake.
Experts say the scheme is an excellent opportunity for graduates to gain professional teaching experience while earning a stable income, helping both the youth and public education system.
