(Web Desk): Punjab government issued new strict policy for schools. Government also introduced heavy penalities on school opening before 8:45 a.m.

The Punjab government has announced strict winter school timings, warning of heavy penalties for schools that open before 8:45 AM. According to official orders, both public and private schools violating this directive could face fines of up to Rs 500,000.

The new regulations are part of the winter adjustment plan, effective from November 3, 2025, to January 31, 2026. The Punjab Education Department said the decision aims to protect students from harsh weather conditions and reduce early morning travel during foggy hours.

Under the new timing schedule, single-shift schools will operate from 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, while Friday classes will end earlier at 12:30 PM.

For double-shift schools, the morning shift will follow the same schedule, while the afternoon shift will begin at 1:00 PM and close at 4:00 PM. On Fridays, the second shift will run from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Officials have urged school administrations to strictly follow the rules to avoid penalties. Parents have also welcomed the decision, saying later timings will make mornings easier for children during the cold season.

The Punjab government has warned that inspection teams will monitor schools daily to ensure full compliance across the province.
