(Web Desk): Brunei Darussalam has officially opened a fully funded scholarship for international students, including Pakistani candidates, to pursue diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate studies.

The Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2026–2027 has officially opened for international students, offering fully funded opportunities to pursue diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate studies at leading universities in Brunei.

The Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship (BDGS) 2026 aims to attract talented students from around the world by providing access to quality higher education across multiple disciplines. The scholarship is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Brunei Darussalam, and is available at the country’s top public institutions, including Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), and Politeknik Brunei (PB).

Officials said the scholarship has gained global attention due to its comprehensive financial coverage, which removes major barriers for international students seeking higher education abroad. Successful candidates will study in a well-structured academic environment designed to support both professional and personal growth.

Scholarship Levels and Duration

The BDGS 2026–2027 is available for Diploma, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate degree programs. The duration of the scholarship varies depending on the level and program selected, in line with the academic structure of each host institution.

Benefits of the Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2026–2027

Under the fully funded scholarship scheme, selected students will receive:

  • Full exemption from tuition fees, including registration, examination, and orientation fees
  • Economy-class return air tickets from the student’s home country to Brunei
  • Monthly personal allowance of BND 500
  • Monthly meal allowance of BND 150
  • Annual book allowance of BND 600
  • Free accommodation at university or polytechnic residential colleges
  • Baggage allowance of BND 250 for ASEAN countries and BND 500 for non-ASEAN countries
  • Comprehensive health insurance for the entire study period

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Brunei Darussalam Scholarship 2026–2027, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be international students studying in Brunei for the first time
  • Must not be permanent residents of Brunei Darussalam
  • Age limit as of 1 July of the intake year:
    • Up to 25 years for Diploma and Undergraduate programs
    • Up to 35 years for Postgraduate Master’s programs
  • Must demonstrate English language proficiency, such as:
    • Credit 6 in GCE O-Level English
    • Grade C in IGCSE English
    • TOEFL score of at least 550
    • IELTS score of 6.0

Applicants are also required to respect Brunei’s culture, traditions, customs, and official religion, and must refrain from participating in political activities during their stay.

Candidates must submit applications online through the official BDGS portal. Applicants are required to:

  • Complete the online application form with accurate personal and academic details
  • Select first and second choices of institution and program
  • Upload all supporting documents in PDF, Word, or JPG format

Applicants to Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) must also apply separately through the UBD admissions portal, while candidates applying to UNISSA, UTB, KUPU SB, or Politeknik Brunei must submit additional applications through the respective institutional websites. Interviews or language tests may be required by host institutions.
