The Department of Education has issued a notification extending school holidays in Azad Kashmir due to severe cold weather conditions. According to the notification, educational institutions in the valley will now reopen on February 6 instead of February 2. The winter vacations have been extended until January 4, 2025, and this extension will apply to all public and private educational institutions.

Earlier, an extension in winter vacations was also announced for schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the announcement, all public and private schools in the province will remain closed until January 6.

It is worth noting that the provincial education department had previously announced winter vacation until December 31. According to the earlier notification, winter vacations in the plain areas were scheduled from December 23 to December 31, while in the hilly areas, they were set from December 23 to February 29, 2024.
