Following the end of winter holidays, all private and government schools have reopened today. However, to protect students and teachers from the cold, the Punjab Education Department has introduced new operating hours.
According to the department, all schools in Punjab will now operate from 9 AM to 2 PM, while on Fridays, school hours will be from 9 AM to 12 PM. This change has been made to ensure the safety of children due to the extreme cold weather.
The department has also allowed flexibility in uniforms for special needs students. These students will be allowed to wear clothing of their choice until February 15 due to the cold weather. This measure is taken to provide a more comfortable environment for these students.
The Education Department has refuted claims circulating on social media about an extension of school holidays, calling them fabricated. According to the department, there will be no extension of winter holidays despite the ongoing cold wave.
Teachers have urged parents to ensure that their children wear warm clothing to stay protected from the cold. Students returning to school after the holidays appeared happy and shared their memorable experiences from the winter break.
The Education Department has reminded parents to prepare their children according to the revised school timings and ensure they are provided with appropriate warm attire
