The Punjab government has officially announced revised school timings for all public and private educational institutions across the province for the winter season, effective from October 16, 2025, to March 31, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the provincial education department, the new schedule applies to both single and double-shift schools and aims to accommodate the seasonal change while ensuring the safety and convenience of students and staff.

Revised timings for double-shift schools

For male double-shift institutions, the morning shift will now commence at 8:45 AM and conclude at 12:45 PM, from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the school day will end earlier, at 12:30 PM. The afternoon shift will begin at 1:00 PM and run until 5:00 PM, with Friday classes starting at 2:00 PM and ending at 5:00 PM.

In the case of female double-shift schools, the morning session will start slightly earlier at 8:30 AM, ending at 12:30 PM from Monday through Thursday, and at 12:15 PM on Fridays. The second shift will operate from 12:45 PM to 4:45 PM on regular weekdays, while Friday timings have been adjusted from 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM.

Implementation and compliance

All school administrations have been directed to strictly follow the updated schedule. The decision has been made in line with seasonal daylight hours and is intended to ensure that school operations are conducted during safe and optimal daylight periods.

Authorities have also urged parents to cooperate with schools in adhering to the new timings, especially during the transition phase.

While this notification covers double-shift institutions, the education department is expected to release detailed schedules for single-shift schools and other special categories in the coming days.
