Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat stressed that all educational institutions must adhere to this holiday timetable, and infractions will not be tolerated.
By contacting the provincial education helpline at +92 316 0261408 before the official reopening date, parents and community members are urged to report any school that is still open.
The minister explained that the extension aims to protect students from the current severe heatwave sweeping the region. He also stressed that the decision is final and non-negotiable.

The extension has been strongly opposed by the All-Pakistan Private Schools Management Association.
They argue that keeping schools closed for almost three months will negatively affect students’ academic progress and board exam preparations.
The association pointed out that schools in Islamabad and other provinces have already reopened, questioning the necessity of Punjab’s prolonged.

The organization has suggested a phased reopening or enabling board classes to restart earlier in order to minimize learning loss, as long strict health and safety procedures are followed.
They think that by taking these steps, student safety and academic requirements would be balanced.
Despite the opposition, the Punjab government remains firm on the extended vacation to safeguard students amid the ongoing heatwave.
