The crucial decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by PPSC Chairman Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Abdul Aziz. The session was attended by Secretary Afzal Ahmad, Member Exam Mirza Sohail Amir, Incharge Rana Rahat Amin, and others.
According to the PPSC spokesperson, the exams scheduled on 30 and 31 August for Punjab Police Inspector Legal posts and other departments have been deferred. The floods made it difficult for candidates to travel and appear in exams, prompting this urgent step.
The exams were meant to fill 434 vacancies, with more than 8,000 candidates registered from across Punjab. The new exam dates will be announced later, the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government is also reviewing the possibility of extending school holidays due to the floods. Education Minister Rana Sikandar is expected to make an important announcement in tomorrow’s meeting. The Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group will also design a ground-based strategy to deal with the crisis.

The postponement of PPSC exams highlights how deeply Punjab’s flood crisis has disrupted daily life. With more than 8,000 candidates affected, the delay creates uncertainty for job seekers and adds pressure on the government to quickly announce new dates. At the same time, discussions on school closures reveal that the education sector may face prolonged disruption if flood conditions continue. The upcoming government strategy meeting will be crucial in shaping relief efforts, but for now, both students and candidates remain in a state of frustration and uncertainty.
