According to the official notification issued on October 7, 2025, the new grading formula has been approved by the Inter Board Coordination Commission (IBCC) during its 182nd meeting held in August 2025. The revised grading structure will take effect from the First Annual Examinations 2026 for SSC-I and HSSC-I, and from 2027 for SSC-II and HSSC-II levels.
Under the new system, students securing 96–100% marks will be awarded the A++ (Extraordinary) grade, while those achieving 91–95% will receive an A+ (Exceptional) grade. Candidates scoring 86–90% will get an A (Outstanding) grade. Similarly, 81–85% will fall under B++ (Excellent), 76–80% under B+ (Very Good), and 71–75% under B (Good).
Students obtaining 61–70% will receive a C+ (Fairly Good) grade, 51–60% will be given a C (Above Average), and those between 40–50% will be graded as D (Emerging). Candidates scoring below 40% will be marked Ungraded (U).

The notification further clarifies that students securing less than 40% marks will be required to reappear in the exam, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
The new grading formula aims to bring Pakistan’s evaluation system in line with international academic standards, promoting a fairer, performance-based assessment rather than percentage-driven competition.
