CM Maryam Nawaz launches Rs60,000 stipend internship programme

LAHORE (Web Desk): The second phase of the "CM Punjab Agriculture Internship Programme” has been launched under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a major move aimed at empowering the youth.

The programme is specially designed for young agriculture graduates, providing them with practical experience and a generous stipend. In this second phase, 2,000 interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs60,000.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates include those with BSc Agriculture or BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering degrees.

Application  

Students wishing to participate can submit their applications at the office of the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) in their respective districts. A dedicated helpline has also been activated to facilitate queries regarding the internship.

The Punjab government has allocated a specific quota for each district, ensuring balanced opportunities across the province. This initiative reflects a long-term investment in human capital and the agricultural sector.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz

Speaking about the programme, CM Maryam Nawaz stated that the agriculture internship not only helps farmers but also ensures dignified employment for educated youth. She highlighted that the Kisan Card program has already set new benchmarks of success in Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz further added that ongoing projects like the Green Tractors Scheme and Tube Well Solarization Program are progressing smoothly. Additionally, a Model Agriculture Mall is being established to provide all farmer-related services under one roof.

This initiative is not just about internships — it’s a multi-layered strategy to uplift both young professionals and the agricultural economy. With generous stipends, district-level access, and support services, the program offers real-time skill development, income support, and a direct connection between educated youth and rural farming needs. Punjab’s agriculture sector appears to be undergoing a policy-driven modernization under Maryam Nawaz’s leadership.
