PU teachers raise alarm over salary cuts and growing mental stress
Punjab University (PU) teachers expressed concerns over salary deductions, delayed Selection Boards, discriminatory policies, and suspension of faculty benefits, terming them a source of serious financial and mental stress for teachers.
The General Body meeting of the Academic Staff Association (ASA), University of the Punjab, was held at Al-Raazi Hall with strong participation from faculty members, who expressed full confidence in the current ASA leadership.
Chairing the meeting, ASA President Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Khan Niazi and Secretary Engr. Prof. Dr. Kamran Abid highlighted these issues.
The meeting unanimously passed resolutions demanding immediate conduct of Selection Boards, restoration of faculty benefits, and regular meetings of statutory bodies to ensure transparency, merit, and institutional governance.
The participants urged the Vice Chancellor to focus on improving the University’s financial stability and addressing faculty issues on a priority basis to protect the academic environment.
Concluding the meeting, ASA leadership reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding teachers’ rights, institutional dignity, and academic excellence. PR
