The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore has completed preparations to introduce an electronic answer sheets system for matric annual exams. This step is part of a broader plan to modernize the examination system and reduce delays in checking papers.
Under the new system, answer sheets of class nine and ten students will be scanned and checked online. This digital method is expected to save time and make the marking process more transparent and organized.
Officials said that in the first phase, the system will be applied to Computer Science papers. A major change in marking is that each examiner will check only one question instead of the whole paper. For example, if a paper has five questions, five different teachers will mark each question separately. This approach is expected to reduce mistakes and eliminate bias.
Students have been instructed to write each answer clearly under the correct question number. They have also been advised to maintain neat handwriting and proper order so that scanning can be done without any problems.

Board officials added that all records will be stored online. This will help in preparing results more efficiently and may also reduce complaints related to rechecking.
This move is being seen as a big step toward digital education reforms. Experts believe the system can make exams more fair, accurate, and fast. If successful, it could be expanded to other subjects and boards across Pakistan.
This change can reduce cheating and unfair marking. Students may get results faster than before. Digital checking can increase trust in the exam system. It also shows Pakistan is moving toward modern education technology.
