LAHORE (Web Desk): A Lahore Board student has secured third position in the matric examinations after rechecking found two unchecked marks, raising her total score from 1,187 to 1,189.

Aafia Naeem, a student of a private educational institution in Model Town, had initially secured 1,187 marks in the Lahore Board matric examination.

She later requested the board to recheck her examination paper. The review resulted in an important change to her final score.

Rechecking reveals unchecked marks

According to the Lahore Board, two marks in one part of Aafia’s examination paper had not been checked during the initial marking process. The issue came to light after she submitted a request for rechecking.

Board officials reviewed the relevant part of the paper and found that two marks had remained unchecked. The marks were subsequently added to her result.

Student’s marks increased to 1,189

Following the rechecking process, Aafia’s total marks increased by two. Her original score of 1,187 marks was revised to 1,189 marks after the additional marks were included.

The change may appear small in terms of numbers, but it had a major impact on her position in the examination results. The revised score placed her among the top students of the Lahore Board.

Aafia Naeem secures third position

After the revision, Aafia Naeem secured third position in the Lahore Board’s matric examinations. Her achievement comes after the rechecking process corrected the marks that had not been counted in the original result.

The case highlights how even a small change in examination marks can affect a student’s overall position. For Aafia, the addition of two marks resulted in a significant improvement in her ranking.

Rechecking can make a major difference

The case also draws attention to the importance of the rechecking process for students who believe there may be an error in their examination results. Students generally seek rechecking when they have concerns about the marks awarded in their papers.

In Aafia’s case, the request led to the discovery of two unchecked marks. The correction ultimately changed her position in the Lahore Board’s matric results.

Board to honour student

The Lahore Board will also hold a ceremony to honour Aafia Naeem for her achievement.

The ceremony will recognise her performance in the matric examinations and her achievement of securing third position after the result was revised.

Her success is expected to draw attention because her position changed following the correction of the unchecked marks.

Why the result change matters

The incident shows how important every mark can be in competitive examinations. A difference of only two marks can affect a student’s position when several candidates have closely matched scores.

In Aafia’s case, the additional marks changed her total from 1,187 to 1,189 and helped her secure third position. The development also underlines the importance of accurate checking and proper examination procedures.

Importance of accurate paper checking

Examination results can have a major impact on students’ academic plans and future opportunities. Accurate marking is therefore important to ensure that students receive the scores they have earned.

The Lahore Board’s review in this case identified marks that had not been included in the original result. The correction allowed the student’s final score to reflect the additional marks found during rechecking.

A reminder for students

The case may also encourage students to carefully review their results after examinations. If students believe there is an issue with their marks, they can follow the relevant board procedures for rechecking or review.

However, the outcome of such requests depends on the examination board’s review and findings. Aafia’s case shows that the process can sometimes identify an error that affects a student’s final position.
