(Web Desk): Germany has announced plans to raise the number of Pakistani students to 10,000 as talks with PMYP focus on skills, education, and youth exchange.

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP), Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, met German Ambassador Anka Lepel at the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday to discuss enhanced cooperation in youth education, skills development, and vocational training.

During the meeting, Ambassador Lepel said the German government plans to increase the number of Pakistani students studying in Germany from 6,000 to 10,000. She emphasized Germany’s interest in expanding academic and professional exchanges and strengthening collaboration in Pakistan’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector.

Rana Mashhood briefed the ambassador on the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, outlining its past achievements, ongoing projects, and future initiatives aimed at empowering young people. He highlighted the role of the National Youth Council, noting its importance as an advisory body in shaping youth-focused policies and programs.

The meeting also included discussions on the Green Youth Movement, a key initiative under the PMYP that encourages youth participation in environmental protection, climate awareness, and sustainable development activities.

Ambassador Lepel appreciated the PMYP’s efforts in youth engagement, skills development, and employment generation, acknowledging the program’s growing impact across Pakistan. Both sides agreed to continue and further strengthen cooperation in education, vocational training, skills development, and youth exchange initiatives.

Officials said the engagement reflects Pakistan and Germany’s shared commitment to investing in youth as a driver of economic growth and long-term development, with further collaboration expected in the coming months.
