FPSC begins CSS application process
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has invited online applications for the CSS preliminary exam.
According to the commission, candidates can complete the CSS application process until August 20.
Officials have advised applicants not to wait until the final day because late applications will not be accepted.
The CSS preliminary exam is the first step for candidates who want to join the civil service Pakistan.
CSS exam date confirmed
The Federal Public Service Commission has confirmed that the CSS preliminary exam for CSS exam 2026 will be held on September 27.
The CSS screening test will take place in 19 cities across Pakistan, allowing candidates to choose their preferred examination centre.
Applicants can select their examination city while completing the FPSC online application.
However, the commission has clarified that the selected examination centre cannot be changed after the application has been submitted.

Passing the screening test is compulsory
The CSS screening test is mandatory for every candidate.
Only applicants who pass the CSS preliminary exam will become eligible to appear in the CSS written examination.
The Federal Public Service Commission explained that the screening test is designed to shortlist candidates before the main competitive examination begins.
Without clearing this stage, candidates cannot continue in the CSS exam 2026 selection process.
Eligibility requirements for candidates
The FPSC has also reminded applicants about the required educational qualifications.
According to the commission, candidates must meet the official CSS eligibility criteria by holding at least a Second Division Bachelor’s degree.
Applicants who satisfy the CSS eligibility requirements should complete their FPSC online application before the closing date.
The Federal Public Service Commission has encouraged candidates to carefully read all instructions before submitting their forms.
