The Sindh Education Department issued an official notification stating that both public and private schools, colleges, and other educational institutions across the province will remain closed on March 11.
Youm-e-Ali is observed annually to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (R.A) on the 21st of Ramazan. The day is marked with mourning processions and strict security arrangements in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, schools in Islamabad will enjoy a 10-day holiday, combining spring and Eid-ul-Fitr breaks to give students and staff an extended vacation.
The federal government announced spring holidays for all federal educational institutions in Islamabad from Tuesday, March 24, to Friday, March 27. These will be followed by the regular weekend on Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29. Schools will reopen on Monday, March 30, according to an official notification.

Director of Academics Riffat Jabeen urged all teaching staff to comply with the schedule and complete the announcement of in-house annual examination results before the break.
Authorities confirmed that the spring holidays are aligned with Eid-ul-Fitr 2026, which is likely to be observed from Friday, March 20, to Monday, March 23. Academic activities across universities, teaching departments, institutes, constituent colleges, and schools will be suspended during this period to allow students and staff to celebrate the festival.
