Karachi (Web Desk): A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday formally charged Armaghan and Shiraz in connection with the murder of Mustafa Amir.

Armaghan and Shiraz plead not guilty as court schedules witness dates in Mustafa Amir murder case. Both accused denied the allegations during the hearing at the Karachi Central Jail Anti-Terrorism Complex before Special Court Number 15.

The court directed notices be issued to the witnesses, summoning them to appear on March 12. The prosecution said Mustafa was murdered last year and his body was burned in Balochistan. Armaghan and Shiraz, close friends of the victim, are considered prime suspects.

In addition to murder, Armaghan faces charges of firing at police during his attempted arrest, drug trafficking, money laundering, and running an illegal call center. He was granted bail last month in a separate PECA case linked to the call center.

Earlier this week, Armaghan’s request for a psychiatric evaluation was rejected. He told the court that he was mentally fit and accused his lawyer of trying to declare him insane without his consent. The court dismissed the petition.

The ATC highlighted that the charges against Armaghan carry the possibility of the death penalty and stressed the need for legal representation. Armaghan declined both his current lawyer and the option of a government-appointed counsel.
