A 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly abducted at gunpoint within the limits of Kanganpur police station in the Changa Manga area on Saturday, according to a case registered by local police.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the armed suspect forced the schoolgirl off a rickshaw before taking her to a deserted house, where he allegedly attempted to rape her. When the girl resisted, the accused reportedly also threatened and assaulted the rickshaw driver at gunpoint.

Police rescue victim after emergency call

Acting swiftly on a call to the police helpline 15, officers reached the scene and rescued the teenager. However, the accused, identified as Hasnain, managed to escape upon spotting the police team, and remains at large.

A case has been registered on the complaint of the girl's father, Arshad Javed, against the fleeing suspect. Police say further investigation is under way to trace and arrest him.

Residents demand swift action

Local residents have voiced outrage over the incident, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. They have also called on authorities to hand the case over to the Counter-Crime Department (CCD) to ensure a thorough and impartial investigation.

The incident has once again raised concerns among parents in the area over the safety of schoolchildren commuting to and from educational institutions in Kanganpur.
