Rider rams his car into Adiala Jail gate barrier, held for probe

RAWALPINDI: (Web Desk) Police on Tuesday apprehended a car rider for ramming the vehicle into the barrier at the gate No5 of Adiala Jail where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is incarcerated.

Police officials revealed that the car rider was immediately arrested when after he had broken the barrier and reached the Gate No 5. They added that the accused was identified as Mubasher and a resident of Tehsil Summundri.

The accused has shifted to Police post Adiala for investigation and his medical examination is being carried out, they said.

The incident took place at a time when a 12-member investigation team from Lahore Police arrived at the jail to probe the 12 cases filed against the PTI founder from May 9.

Headed by DSP Javed Asif, the team faced resistance as Imran Khan refused to cooperate, demanding that the investigation be conducted in the presence of his lawyers.

Despite Imran’s refusal, the police are set to perform three critical tests on Khan today, including a polygraph test, voice matching, and photographic analysis.

Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore extended Imran Khan’s physical remand until July 25, allowing for further investigation into the May 9 cases.
