KARACHI (Web Desk): A shocking case has surfaced in Karachi too, echoing the disturbing trend witnessed in Balochistan. A young couple has said that their decision to marry for love has put their lives at risk.

Komal (22) and Zubair (24), residents of Dalmia Shanti Nagar, released a video statement claiming that Komal’s own family has turned hostile after the couple’s consensual love marriage. “We didn’t commit a crime — we married by choice,” Komal said with visible distress.

In their video, the couple accused Komal’s family of lodging false kidnapping cases against Zubair and trying to block their access to court. Komal said she had already recorded her statement in court confirming the marriage was of her free will, but her family continues to harass them.

She further revealed that her family was forcing her to marry her maternal cousin. Upon refusal, she became the target of threats and mental torture. “My brothers and uncles have made life unbearable for me,” she said, tearfully appealing to authorities: “Please save me from them.”

In a harrowing warning, Komal added, “If no one helps me, I will take my own life. My father, brothers, and uncles will be responsible for it.”

The couple made a direct plea to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Chief Minister, and the Inspector General of Sindh for immediate protection, warning that if help doesn’t arrive, “We will end up like the couple killed in Balochistan.” Komal also mentioned that her family holds political and financial influence, making the threat even more serious.

Calling on NGOs and welfare organizations, Komal said, “Please help me before it’s too late. Another daughter is about to die — make sure my voice reaches the authorities.”

This alarming case underscores a growing crisis where basic human rights — like choosing a life partner — are being criminalized by families wielding social or political power. Despite legal protections, young couples across Pakistan are still facing violence, threats, and character assassination for love marriages. Komal’s desperate video not only reveals the fragility of women s rights but also challenges the silence of the state in protecting its citizens. Urgent legal and social reforms are needed before more lives are lost to honor-based hostility.
