(Web Desk): Pakistan is set to introduce its first-ever AI-powered immigration application as part of a major reform drive aimed at curbing illegal travel and improving the efficiency of the country’s border management system.

The Interior Ministry confirmed that the pilot phase of the project will begin in Islamabad in January 2026.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that the advanced system will enable authorities to determine a traveler’s eligibility before they attempt to leave the country, reducing the chances of individuals traveling on fake or suspicious documents.

Crackdown on Fake Documents & Visa Mafia

During a high-level meeting chaired by Minister Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the government decided to intensify its crackdown on agents and networks involved in fake visas, forged passports, and human smuggling.

It was also decided that a more secure and transparent mechanism would be introduced for issuing Protectors, a mandatory requirement for Pakistanis seeking overseas employment.

Passports of Deported Individuals to Be Canceled

Minister Naqvi further revealed that the passports of individuals deported from foreign countries on illegal immigration grounds would be canceled, preventing them from reapplying for visas.

He also stressed the need for introducing a uniform international driving license issued by the National Police Bureau.

Improving Pakistan’s Global Standing

Officials stated that discussions are underway with multiple countries to enhance the classification and credibility of Pakistan’s green passport. The broader immigration reforms aim to protect Pakistanis from exploitation, improve the country’s global image, and ensure smoother travel for genuine passengers.

Minister Salik Hussain emphasized the need for a “fully transparent and foolproof” system, adding that applicants for labor visas must present complete and legitimate documentation.
