Punjab Drug Testing Laboratories issued an alert after routine quality checks showed that two medicines failed standard tests. These drugs were declared substandard and adulterated, raising concerns about patient safety.

Following the test failure, the Provincial Quality Control Board approved an official recall. Authorities ordered that the affected medicine batches must not be sold or used under any condition.
The notification directed dealers, wholesalers, and retailers to immediately remove the affected batches from sale and return them to the respective companies. The public was also strongly advised to stop using these medicines as they could pose serious health risks.
The banned medicines include Injection Neudex 1ml (Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate) with batch numbers DX063, DX079, and DX080. Another rejected product is Zesol H Infusion 1000ml (Ringer Lactate) with batch number 2503281.
The Punjab Health Department instructed all field teams to strengthen monitoring under the Drug Act 1976 and Punjab Drug Rules. The aim is to ensure quick recalls of poor-quality medicines. The Chief Drug Controller Punjab has also been asked to submit a detailed report to higher authorities.
