According to Zainab, her husband’s first wife interfered in their marital life. The first wife turned Zainab’s husband against her by demanding equal rights and her husband made life difficult for Zainab.

Zainab Jameel was assassinated in Lahore in which she was shot six times. After regaining consciousness, Zainab said that she had received several threats before the attack, and expressed suspicion that her husband was behind the attack as they had been at loggerheads.
