During an exclusive interview with Suno Digital, she said if Chahat Fateh Ali Khan had not made a video against her, she would never have parted ways with him. “I am happy that our song has brought smiles to the faces of 20 million people,” she added.
She said, “If he [Chahat] has realised his mistake, I can think of making friends with him again.”
Wajdan Rao said after the release of the song, she made a video for fun in which she requested fans not to troll the song. “I made the video for fun only,” she stated.
“After I made the video, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan called me and said ‘Why are you doing these acts of stupid YouTuber?’ I did not like it. I told him I made the video for fun. I was not actually crying in the video. It was for fun only, but still, he made a video against me,” she said.
Talking about the first meeting with Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, Wajdan Rao said, “I liked Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan very much. One day, a friend of mine told me, ‘A singer has come, and he is so great that you will forget Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.’ Surprised, I was then shown a post of Chahat Fateh Ali Khan on which I commented, and thus he came to my inbox.”
Wajdan Rao said, “We both had a conversation in a good environment. At that time, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan said, ‘When I make my first song, he will cast you as a model’ to which I laughed.”
She said even before “Akh Ladi Bado Badi”, she recorded five songs with Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, adding four of those songs she filmed in Pakistan and sent them to London, and Chahat made her part of those songs through editing. She said they performed together in two songs.
Wajdan also expressed her dismay that after the release of “Akh Ladi Bado Badi”, she was criticised and the social media users taunted her as to why she acted with a person of her grandfather’s age.
It is to be noted here that Chahat Fateh Ali Khan released “Akh Ladi Bado Badi” last week which went viral instantly. The song trended on TikTok and other social media apps including YouTube. The song has been viewed over 30 million times across all social media platforms.
It is also worth mentioning here that Chahat Fateh Ali Khan sang the Punjabi song “Akh Ladi Bado Badi” in his unique style and voice, which was sung for the first time by renowned Pakistani singer Noor Jahan, the queen of melody, for a Pakistani film.
