Rajab Butt is under three different investigations, blasphemy and promotion of gambling apps.

“Rajab Butt is under investigation for two blasphemy cases, one by Muslims and the other by Christians, along with a case related to promoting gambling’, NCCIA Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry disclosed.

He said that Butt had flown out of Pakistan shortly after the investigation into the blasphemy started in June, and his name has already been put on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Chaudhry made it clear that Butt will be straight away arrested if he returns to Pakistan. If he fails to do so, the authorities intend to file an FIR and seek arrest warrants from the court. If Butt does not return within a month, a warrant will be issued permanently, and after one month, Pakistan may ask Interpol to issue a Red Warrant for his arrest.

The news indicates that Butt is in the United Arab Emirates at present. Since there is an agreement of prisoner exchange between Pakistan and the UAE, it can happen through extradition if Interpol activates a Red Warrant.

Chaudhry further stated that in Section 88 proceedings, the authorities not only can approach Interpol but also can confiscate Butt s properties, freeze his bank accounts, and suspend his identity card as well as all services connected to it.
