(Web Desk): Muniza Hasan, mother of Nazia and Zoheb Hasan, has passed away after battling dementia, Zoheb confirmed in an emotional tribute.

Muniza Hasan, the mother of iconic Pakistani pop stars Nazia Hasan and Zoheb Hasan, passed away after a prolonged illness. The news was confirmed by her son, Zoheb, via an emotional post on Instagram.

In the heartfelt message, Zoheb shared a video montage of memories with his mother, captioned:
"My mother, my love, and my guiding light has passed away."

Muniza Hasan had reportedly been suffering from dementia for several years. In order to care for her, Zoheb Hasan had returned to Pakistan from abroad, devoting his time to her health and well-being.

The family has yet to release official details about her funeral or final rites.

The Hasan family has endured multiple personal tragedies over the past two decades. Muniza’s husband and father of Nazia and Zoheb, Basir Hasan, passed away in May 2020. Earlier, Nazia Hasan, one of South Asia’s most beloved pop singers, lost her battle with cancer in August 2000 at the young age of 35.

Nazia and Zoheb, under the guidance of their mother, played a pivotal role in shaping the modern pop music scene of the subcontinent in the 1980s. Their debut album Disco Deewane became a blockbuster hit across South Asia and beyond.
