Andy Williams dies after wrestling match
Andy Williams, the founding guitarist of metalcore band Every Time I Die, has died at the age of 48.
Williams, who was also known in professional wrestling as “The Butcher”, reportedly collapsed after taking part in an independent tag-team wrestling match.
The match took place at Mr. Small’s Theatre in Millvale, Pennsylvania. He was pronounced dead just hours later on Saturday night.
The exact cause of the Andy Williams death has not been announced yet.
The sudden news has shocked both the music and wrestling communities, where Williams had built a career across two very different worlds.
A career in music
Before entering professional wrestling, Williams was best known as a member of Every Time I Die.
He was one of the founding members of the New York metalcore band and served as its rhythm guitarist from its formation in 1998 until the group ended in 2022.
During his time with Every Time I Die, Williams appeared on all nine of the band’s studio albums.
The group announced its breakup in early 2022 after releasing its ninth and final album, Radical, in 2021.
The Radical album became the final studio release from the band, closing an important chapter in Williams’ music career.
From music to the wrestling ring
Williams began his professional wrestling career during the 2010s while he was still performing with Every Time I Die.
In 2019, he joined All Elite Wrestling, better known as AEW, where he performed under the name “The Butcher”.
His wrestling career continued alongside his music work, allowing him to build a second identity outside the stage.
Williams remained under contract with AEW until June 2026.
After Every Time I Die broke up, he continued making music with Atomic Rule while also pursuing his wrestling career.

AEW pays tribute
AEW confirmed the death of Andy Williams in a statement shared on Instagram.
“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to learn of the passing of Andy Williams, aka The Butcher,” the company wrote.
AEW described Williams as a trailblazing musician who successfully moved from Every Time I Die into professional wrestling.
The company also said he was highly respected by people both inside and outside the ring.
It extended condolences to Williams’ family, friends and fans.
A sudden loss
The Andy Williams death came unexpectedly after the wrestling match, making the news even more shocking for those who knew him.
Williams had spent decades building a name in music before becoming a recognizable figure in AEW.
His work with Atomic Rule also showed that music remained an important part of his life after Every Time I Die ended.
