Anne Hathaway is six to seven months pregnant and had planned to appear on ‘Hot Ones’ while promoting her upcoming film ‘Verity’.
The actress wanted to take part in the famous challenge and also promote her on-screen character, Verity Crawford.
Her plan appeared realistic because she had already eaten spicy wings while filming the movie.
Hathaway explained on the ‘Talk of the Townsends’ podcast that she ate the first three wings for real during filming before switching to dummy wings.
“We did the first three wings for real, and then I switched to dummy wings," she said.
The experience made her confident that she could handle the Hot Ones challenge during the film’s promotional tour.
Doctor gives Hathaway a warning
However, the situation changed when Hathaway became pregnant.
She said her doctor advised her not to take part in the challenge because eating very spicy wings could potentially trigger early labor.
“But then I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labor."
The warning forced Hathaway to put her planned appearance on hold.
Her comments about the Hot Ones challenge have attracted attention because she had already expected the appearance to be part of her Verity movie promotion.

Hathaway may return next year
Although she could not complete the challenge this time, Hathaway has not ruled out appearing on the show in the future.
She said she still has not completed the challenge and suggested that fans may see her attempt it next year.
"So I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet. I’m not sure when that’s going to happen. Maybe next year."
The Hot Ones challenge remains something Hathaway wants to try when the timing is safer.
Meanwhile, her pregnancy has changed part of her promotional plans for Verity movie.
‘Verity’ release date
The upcoming Verity movie stars Hathaway as Verity Crawford and is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2.
The film’s promotional campaign comes as Anne Hathaway pregnancy continues to shape her public appearances and activities.
Fans will now have to wait to see whether Hathaway eventually completes the Hot Ones challenge.
