Actress Ayesha Khan said Mumbai Police detained her while she was attending a protest held in support of students. She shared videos on social media, claiming she had not taken part in any protest activity before being taken into custody.
In one of the videos recorded from inside a police van, Ayesha appeared emotional and said, “My hands are literally shivering right now. I've been detained in the police van just for standing on the road peacefully. I didn't say a word. I didn't even start the protest. I was just standing because my brother, my male friends were detained and we were just standing on road. Me and two of my other female friends.”
The actress also shared clips showing police officers taking people into custody. In another video, she questioned where the detainees were being taken, while another clip showed her asking officers not to push her.
According to Ayesha, she had reached the protest venue to show solidarity with students demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities. She claimed that neither she nor her friends had started protesting, raised slogans or displayed placards before police intervened.
