Police clarify viral Meera and domestic worker video case settled
Police clarify when the incident happened
A video appearing to show actor Meera involved in a physical confrontation with a member of her household staff spread widely on social media.
According to Lahore police, however, the footage is not from a recent incident. A spokesperson for the Deputy Inspector General (Operations) said the CCTV recording showed an incident that happened in June.
Police said the matter was investigated at the time. Both Meera and the domestic worker, identified as Yasmeen, were called for questioning during the inquiry.
The police spokesperson said Yasmeen told investigators that the dispute had been resolved between the two sides. She also said she did not want to file a complaint or take legal action against Meera.
Her written and video statements were reportedly included in the police record.
Meera had also filed a theft complaint
The police inquiry also involved a separate complaint filed by Meera against Yasmeen.
According to police, the actor had accused the domestic worker of taking several belongings, including a bag and clothes.
The complaint was later withdrawn after the missing items were returned, police said.
Investigators subsequently concluded that the dispute between Meera and Yasmeen had been settled. Yasmeen also told police that she did not want to pursue any further action against the actor.
The development has drawn renewed attention because the CCTV footage resurfaced online months after the police inquiry had already taken place.
Other videos create more confusion
After the CCTV footage began circulating, another video appeared online showing a woman with visible marks on her face.
In that recording, the woman called for her alleged attacker to be imprisoned. However, she did not identify Meera as the person responsible.
A separate video later emerged showing a woman at a police station who identified herself as Yasmeen and said she worked for Meera.
In the video, Yasmeen denied that any physical fight had taken place between her and the actor. She also said she was still working at Meera’s home.
Yasmeen claimed the earlier video showing the injured woman was fake and had been created using artificial intelligence.
“Nothing like this happened between the two of us. There was no fight,” she said, while maintaining that she continued to work for the actor.

What police records show
The police account indicates that authorities had already looked into the dispute before the CCTV footage became widely discussed online.
Police said Yasmeen did not seek legal action against Meera and had provided statements confirming that the issue had been settled.
The renewed circulation of the footage has nevertheless created fresh public interest, particularly because social media users began discussing the incident without knowing when the recording was made.
The conflicting online videos have also added uncertainty to the public discussion. One recording appears to show an injured woman, while another features Yasmeen denying that she had fought with Meera.
Police, however, have described the original matter as resolved following their investigation.
