(Web Desk): HBO has started filming its new Harry Potter series, while the original trio from the movie has not returned, stirring anticipation and nostalgia among fans.

Cameras are rolling on the new HBO television adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and subsequent books, with production officially having begun on 14 July 2025 at the historic Leavesden studios which is the same site where the original film series was shot.

The new “Golden Trio” cast has been unveiled: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

This recast confirms that the original film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Ruper Grint will not be reprising their roles.

Grint, in particular, has publicly addressed the transition describing his decision as “passing the baton” after sending a supportive letter to Stout ahead of filming.

Radcliffe has echoed similar sentiments, offering encouragement to McLaughin while clarifying that he does not expect to return.

The series backed by executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod aims to adapt all seven novels across multiple seasons, delivering a fresh and long-form take on the beloved magical world.
