In an interview with a private news channel, the owner of the flat, Mir Waiz, shared his side of the story. He revealed that in December 2018, he had rented out his flat to Humaira for Rs40,000 per month. However, the lease agreement expired in 2019, and it was time to increase the rent. Despite this, Humaira did not renew the contract and refused to agree to the rent hike.
Mir Waiz mentioned that he made numerous attempts to contact Humaira, but she always avoided direct answers. Occasionally, they communicated via WhatsApp, where she would send screenshots of the rent payment, but she was unwilling to vacate the flat or accept the increased rent.
Adding to the mystery, Mir Waiz disclosed that he had received two complaints from neighbors about Humaira’s frequent quarrels, and she had failed to make any payments for the maintenance and repairs of the flat.
In 2021, Mir Waiz took the issue to the civil court, and in September 2023, the court ruled in his favor. Yet, Humaira did not vacate the flat nor agree to raise the rent. The last rent payment was made by Humaira in May 2024.
In July 2024, after several months, Mir Waiz once again approached the court, and on July 8th, a magistrate accompanied him to the flat. Unfortunately, they found Humaira Asghar’s lifeless body inside, sparking more questions about the conditions she had been living under.
