According to reports, during a burglary attempt, an intruder attacked Saif Ali Khan with a knife. Khan is currently hospitalised.

According to Indian media, the Pataudi family issued an official statement after the attack. “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing a surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” read the statement.

According to the reports, team of Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan’s wife, also released a statement.

“There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the police [are] already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern,” it said.

The chief operating officer of Lilavati Hospital, Dr Niraj Uttamani, said Khan suffered six wounds, of which two are deep.

According to reports, Dr Uttamani stated that Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his residence in Bandra and was brought to the hospital at 3:30am.

As per Reuters, police said they launched probe into the incident, and started search for the intruder.
