The title of the highly anticipated Bollywood movie starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor has been changed from Aabeer Gulaal to Abir Gulaal, and its producers have confirmed that it would be released globally on August 29, 2025.
The modification was made to standardize the film s branding and bring it into line with the director s original intent, according to media sources.
The film s debut, which was originally scheduled for April 22, was delayed because of increased political tensions between India and Pakistan earlier this year.
Abir Gulaal will not be released in Indian theaters despite its worldwide distribution because Pakistani musicians are still prohibited from performing there.
Promotional activities, including a grand music launch in Dubai, had already taken place before the delay was announced.
Fans excited to see Khan and Kapoor together on television for the first time have been even more curious as a result of the prolonged delay.

This releasing approach is similar to that of Chal Mera Putt 4 and Sardaar Ji 3, which did not play in Indian theaters but did remarkably well abroad.
Similar to previous examples, Sardaar Ji 3, released globally on June 27, 2025 and Chal Mera Putt 4 launched worldwide on August 1, 2025, Aabeer Gulaal will debut internationally on August 29, skipping Indian cinemas due to the ban on Pakistani artists.
Industry experts believe Abir Gulaal could follow the same path, finding commercial success in Pakistan and internationally, even without an Indian release. Whether it will match the overseas success of its predecessors remains to be seen.
