Rupee shows surprising steadiness against dollar with a slight gain

KARACHI (Web Desk): The rupee appreciated by a slight margin of 01 paisa against the US dollar in interbank trading, closing at Rs281.00 compared to the previous day’s rate of Rs281.01.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the dollar’s buying and selling rates in the open market stood at Rs282.65 and Rs282.75, showing a narrow range of fluctuation.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported that the euro gained 08 paisa to close at Rs326.50, up from the previous Rs326.42, indicating mild movement in the European currency.

Meanwhile, the Japanese yen held steady at Rs1.83. The British pound showed a slight rise of 05 paisa, finishing at Rs374.10 compared to Rs374.05 a day earlier.

The exchange rates for the Emirates dirham and Saudi riyal remained unchanged, closing at Rs76.50 and Rs74.93 respectively, reflecting market stability in Gulf currencies.

The rupee’s tiny gain reflects cautious optimism in Pakistan’s currency market. Despite global pressures, the exchange rates remain mostly stable. Experts say that this consistency signals balanced demand and supply in the forex market. However, small fluctuations hint at investors waiting for stronger economic cues before taking bigger moves.
