Karachi (Web Desk): The Pakistan Stock Exchange stayed positive as the KSE-100 Index gained more than 100 points amid cautious investor activity.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained in positive territory during Thursday’s trading session, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index posting modest gains despite cautious market sentiment. Investors continued selective buying while keeping a close watch on economic developments and corporate activity.

By mid-day, the KSE-100 Index was trading at 174,533.28, up 103.36 points, or 0.06 percent, compared with the previous closing level of 174,429.92. The index opened on a positive note and moved higher during early trading before giving up part of its gains as investors booked profits.

During the session, the benchmark index touched an intra-day high of 175,237.59 before slipping to a low of 174,144.11. The movement showed that while buying interest remained intact, investors were also cautious about locking in profits after recent market gains.

Trading activity remained moderate, with more than 60.14 million shares changing hands by mid-day. The total value of traded shares reached around Rs3.52 billion, reflecting steady participation from investors, although overall market momentum remained limited.

According to market participants, the trading session remained largely range-bound, with the index moving within a narrow range throughout the day. Institutional investors stayed relatively cautious, while most activity came from selective buying in key sectors.

Analysts said profit-taking at higher levels prevented the market from extending its early gains. However, the fact that the index remained above the previous close suggested that investor confidence had not weakened significantly.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange has performed strongly in recent months, supported by improving economic indicators, easing inflation, stable monetary policy expectations, stronger corporate earnings, and renewed investor confidence. However, experts believe that short-term fluctuations and profit-taking are likely as investors assess upcoming economic data and company results.

Market experts said the direction of the closing session would depend on fresh buying interest, sector-specific activity, and overall investor sentiment during the remaining trading hours.
