(Web Desk): The government has reduced the prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) across the country, providing some relief to consumers. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officially issued a notification announcing the new rates.

According to the OGRA notification, LPG prices have been slashed by 2.73 percent from November 1. The price per kilogram has been reduced by Rs5.88, setting the new rate at Rs201.60 per kg.

The notification further stated that the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has decreased by Rs70, bringing it down to Rs2,379 from November 1. In October, the price of a domestic cylinder stood at Rs2,448.

OGRA explained that the decrease in LPG prices was mainly due to the decline in Saudi Aramco’s contract price and a reduction in the value of the US dollar. The authority highlighted that earlier this year, LPG prices were also reduced — in June by Rs4.63 per kg and Rs54.60 per domestic cylinder, and in July by Rs7.43 per kg and Rs87.71 per domestic cylinder.

The latest cut in LPG prices is expected to ease household expenses amid rising inflation. Experts say the downward trend in global fuel prices and a stable exchange rate have contributed to this relief. However, they also warn that any future rise in international oil markets or the dollar’s value could again impact local LPG rates.
