The FBR recently ended manual return filing from Tax Year 2024 to promote online submissions. However, recognizing that some filers may struggle to adapt to the digital system, it has introduced dedicated support to ease the transition.
According to a press release, special help cells will be set up in every tax office. These units will offer both technical and legal assistance to taxpayers who previously filed returns manually.
In a major relief, the FBR has also extended the filing deadline for manual filers until 30th November 2025 under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
Taxpayers can visit their nearest tax offices for free registration and online filing help. If legal assistance is needed, FBR’s field offices will provide it at no cost throughout the current tax year.

This initiative highlights FBR’s push toward a transparent and fully digital tax system that simplifies processes and supports taxpayers at every step.
Experts say this move will make tax filing easier for many Pakistanis unfamiliar with online systems. It also shows that FBR aims to create a fair and efficient digital framework while ensuring no taxpayer is left behind. The free legal and technical aid could build more trust between citizens and tax authorities.
