KARACHI (Web Desk): The price of 24-karat gold surged by Rs1,900 on Thursday, reaching Rs442,800 per tola, compared to Rs440,900 on the previous trading day.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold climbed by Rs1,629 to Rs379,629, up from Rs378,000. For 22-karat gold, the price increased to Rs348,005 from Rs346,512, marking a gain of Rs1,493.

In the global market, gold also witnessed a sharp increase of $19, touching $4,217 per ounce, compared to $4,198 a day earlier. Analysts say this rise reflects growing investor anxiety over economic uncertainty and currency fluctuations.

On the other hand, silver prices stayed unchanged. The 24-karat silver was sold at Rs5,337 per tola and Rs4,575 per 10 grams, while international silver maintained its rate at $52.50 per ounce.

Gold’s steady climb shows renewed investor confidence in safe assets amid market instability. With rising global inflation and weakening currencies, traders are turning to gold as protection against uncertainty.

Experts believe that if international rates continue upward, Pakistan’s local market may soon see gold touching another record high. However, silver’s stagnant position signals a limited short-term demand shift — keeping all eyes on gold as the week’s main focus.
