(Web Desk): National Savings Schemes profit rates have been revised under a new notification issued by the Ministry of Finance.

The latest changes include lower returns on several savings products while some Islamic certificates have received higher profit rates.

According to the notification, the profit rate on the Defense Savings Certificate has been reduced from 12.96 percent to 11.94 percent. Investors in this scheme will now receive lower returns on their savings.

The profit rate for Pensioners Benefit, Behbood, and Shuhada certificates has also been reduced. The return has been lowered from 13.20 percent to 12.96 percent under the revised rates.

The government has also cut the profit rate on the Regular Savings Certificate. The return has been reduced from 12.24 percent to 11.52 percent.

Similarly, the profit rate on the Special Savings Certificate has been decreased from 12.6 percent to 11.43 percent. The changes are part of the latest review of National Savings products.

However, not all schemes have seen reductions. The profit rate on Savings Certificates has been maintained at 10 percent with no change announced by the government.

Meanwhile, investors in Islamic savings products have received some positive news. The profit rate on the 5-year Sarwa Islamic Certificate has been increased from 11.16 percent to 11.52 percent.

The 3-year Sarwa Islamic Certificate has recorded a significant increase. Its return has been raised from 9.16 percent to 11.50 percent under the new notification.

According to the revised figures, an investment of Rs100,000 in a Regular Income Certificate will now generate a monthly profit of Rs960. This updated return will apply under the newly announced rates.

The notification also states that the Special Savings Certificate will offer a profit rate of 11.2 percent during the first six months. The final six months will provide a return of 12.6 percent.

In addition, the annual profit rate on the Shuhada Family Welfare Account has been fixed at 12.96 percent. The account remains one of the key savings options available for eligible families.

The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that the revised profit rates are effective immediately. Investors are now expected to reassess their savings strategies in response to the latest adjustments.

The new profit rates show that the government is aligning savings returns with current economic conditions. While most traditional schemes have seen lower returns, higher rates on Islamic certificates may attract more investors.

The changes could encourage savers to compare different National Savings products before making investment decisions. Investors looking for better returns may now pay closer attention to Islamic savings options.
